Local Events Community Invited to 12th Annual Spring Concert at Motlow
The 12th annual spring concert at Motlow College on April 19, 2005 will feature tunes guaranteed to please, said Tom Breece, an assistant professor music and director of the event.
The public is invited at no charge to the 7:30 p.m. concert in Powers Auditorium, located in Eoff Hall on Motlow’s Moore County campus. Reservations are not required.
The musical evening will feature the Motlow Chorus, Stage Band, and soloists Mike Chilcut, Don Jensen, Kevin Nerren, Andrew Taylor and Shaun Furman.
Songs include “Blue Skies,” a medley from “O’ Brother Where Art Thou,” “Witchcraft,” “Take the A Train,” and “Fever.” Breece will perform a solo rendition of “Georgia on My Mind,” and students Kevin Nerren, Andrew Taylor and Shaun Furman also will sing solos. Nerren will perform one of his original compositions.
Breece said this year’s musicians also include two community representatives: MikeChilcut and Don Jensen.

Motlow College Annual Career Day Is April 20, 2005
Motlow College will host its annual Career Day on April 20 on the Moore County campus, said Ken Preiser, director of career planning, placement and cooperative education at the college.
Representatives of business and industry will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to talk about career options with students and members of the community. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge. Tables will be set up outside between Simon Hall, Eoff Hall and Forrester Student Center. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside Nisbett Center. For more information, call Preiser at 931-393-1610.
“Career Day is a wonderful opportunity for anyone looking for employment, including summer jobs, and/or career information, and we invite everyone to take advantage of having access to many business and industry representatives.”
Such an arrangement benefits everyone involved, according to Preiser.
“This is a free service to our students and the public, but also helps local employers find qualified employees,” he said.

 'Instant Piano' Class Offered At Motlow College
Motlow College, through its Office of Community Services, will offer a course titled “Instant Piano” on May 5, 2005 on the Moore County campus. The class will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in Room 130 of Simon Hall.
“If you yearn to experience the joy of playing piano but you don’t want years of weekly lessons, this absolutely beginning class in chord piano is for you,” said Kay Kimbro, coordinator of community services at the college. “In just one evening, you can learn all the chords needed to play any pop song.”
Instructor David Haynes said if a student can find middle C on the keyboard, he or she already knows enough to enroll in the class.
The cost is $45, or $50 for those registering after April 28. The class fee does not include a materials fee of $25 to be paid to the instructor the night of class.
